A federal agency of Canada, known as The Canada Revenue Agency or CRA was founded in the year 2003. Bob Hamilton is the CEO of the organisation and it was formerly known as Revenue Canada or Canada Customers and Revenue Agency. Their main operations include administering laws of tax for the Canadian government along with most of the territories and provinces, legislation of international trade and different types of economic and social benefits and programs of incentive which could be delivered through the taxation system. They are also responsible for overseeing the charity registrations in Canada along with all the programs that include tax credits.

The headquarters of the organisation is located at The Connaught Building in Ottawa and there all kinds of high level functional planning takes place. The workings of CRA are divided into 5 regions according to the administrative works that are going on in each region. This include, Quebec, Atlantic, Prairie, Pacific and Ontario and in each of the regions there are few offices of the organisation who helps in carrying out all the field related works along with collections and auditing. CRA basically operates four types of different programs of investigations which consist of Special Enforcement Program, Informant leads program, criminal investigation program and voluntary disclosures program.
