DCFS stands for the department of children and family services.  These are the government agencies in Los Angeles. They work for the protection and safety of children. Their main functions involve investigating child abuse, child allegations, foster care cases, child welfare, and child adoption cases. These cases and allegations are filed under Edmund D. Edelman Children’s Court that is situated Monterey park in California. McCourtey justice center also looks after these crucial cases of child abuse. It is situated in Lancaster in California. During the court cases, children are represented by the children’s law center and the parents are represented by the lawyers of Los Angeles dependency.

During 1891 conditions became worst for children and women. Many of the cases were reported during this time period. Looking into all these matters, social services for women and children began in the office of superintendent in 1891. Various departments of charities for hospitals, outdoor relief, county farms were formed in 1913. In 1903 the first juvenile court was opened under the child protection act. By the upcoming years’ department of children services and commission of children’s services were formed in 1984. Los Angeles country board and supervisors changed the name of the Department Of Children Services into the Department Of Children And Family Services.
