This is an introduction to the company Equifax, an overview of their founding history and a review of the services they offer. Equifax Inc. is known to be one of the largest credit reporting agencies in the whole wide world.  Since they were founded, they have been personally responsible for collecting aggregate credit information of a large chunk of the population of the world, and in their role as a consumer credit reporting agency, store that information for further reference. Equifax Inc. is one of the world’s oldest companies and has been around since the late 1800s.

The company itself was founded in 1899, 119 years ago, with the initial, beginning name of Retail Credit Company. The main founders of this famous and reputed company were the experienced businessmen and credit pioneers, Cator Woolford and Guy Woolford. The Retail Credit Company was founded in the town of Atlanta, Georgia. The company was famous almost overnight, growing exponentially in a very short period of time.  By the end of the 1960s, Retail Credit Company was one of America’s largest credit Bureaus, as it held and stored files on millions of American and Canadian citizens. After the 1960s, they retained their focus of performing excellent credit reporting but also expanded into making reports to insurance companies when a certain person would apply for some kind of insurance, whether it was fire, automobile, or for medical purposes.
