Being the civilian care component of the Military Health System, the organization provides civilian health benefits for U.S Armed Forces military personnel, retirees and their dependents.

Managed by the Defense Health Agency (DHA), this government managed health insurance is a registered trademark of the Department of Defense, and considered the gold standard for medical coverage. The organization has collaborated with large health insurance corporations to manage claims processing, customer service and other administrative functions of this healthcare program.
