About
British Airways is among the largest airline companies in the United Kingdom based on fleet size, and second largest based on passengers overboard. The airline is situated in Waterside near its main hub at London Heathrow Airport. The airline is considered as a national symbol of global power which highlights the United Kingdom’s status.
On 31 March 1974, British Overseas Airways Corporation, British European Airways, Cambrian Airways and Northeast Airlines were merged to form “British Airways”. This move was taken after the British Airways board was established by the British Government to manage all these 4 airlines. After almost 13 years of being a state company, British Airways was finally privatized in February 1987.
In January 2011, British Airways merged with Iberia, which created the International Airlines Group (IAG). International Airlines Group is the world’s third-largest airline group in terms of annual revenue and the second-largest in Europe. International Airlines Group (IAG) features one of the largest cargo carrier networks in the whole world. It is the largest operator of the Boeing 747-400, that has a total of 41 planes registered to its name. They have other cargo carriers including Airbus A319, Airbus A320, Boeing 737, Boeing 767, and A380-800.
