It is no arcane knowledge that the modern world as we know it would not have remotely been the same if not for the invention of electricity as a sustainable source of power. For a perspective to its importance: without electricity in 2018, hypothetically, any major nation would face a large-scale economic crisis and eventually collapse within a matter of weeks. In the state of Illinois, the biggest of such distributors is ComEd (a.k.a Commonwealth Edison). It extends its service to almost 4 million customers in Northern Illinois today, and it has been the mainstay electricity provider for the region, along with Chicago, for almost a century now. Comcast has some affiliation with the AEP 765kV transmission grid, and also with Wisconsin Electric and Ameren to the northern and southern 345kV systems respectively. Their coverage spans roughly the area from Wisconsin to Iroquois County (Noth-South), and from Iowa to Indiana (West-East).
