The services are basically owned by Air India Ltd which is an enterprise that is owned by the government. This airline was basically founded by JRD Tata on 1932 but after the 2nd World War, it became a public limited company and the name of the airlines was changed from Tata airlines to Air India. This is the third largest domestic air service in India after Indigo and jet airways.
The flight operations of Air India to its domestic as well as Asian destinations are done by its subsidiaries which are known as Air India Express and Alliance Air and the headquarter of this airline service is located at New Delhi, India. Air India connects its flights to about 28 countries that are located in the four continents around the world. The primary hub of Air India is located at Indira Gandhi International airport, New Delhi while the secondary hub for the airline services is situated at Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport which is located at Mumbai.
